Leitung Kugeln - lead musket balls

I found these today. Don't know what caliber they might be. Does anyone know how old they might be?

      Laudenberg

Don't know if there was a battle in this area. But I have found several other pieces of lead that may have been musket balls but have been hit by a tractor so they are just pieces of lead now. I have been detecting near laudenberg, close to Heidelberg.

        Hi Richard,

I found several of such musket balls (different calibres) on fields and in the woods. That does not necessarily mean that there was a battle - hunters also shot with such round bullets. Only if you find half a dozen or more of such bullets with the same calibre in a small area this might be a clear sign that there was a battle.

BTW: you can found a list of all important battles throughout the centuries here: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_Schlachten

        Best regards,
        Guenter

PS: the correct German word for "lead" is "Blei" - "Leitung" is e.g. used for "leadership" as well as for "circuit"
