Erinnerungskreuz 1866 “Der Main-Armee” Medal Found Today

I decided to give Hessen a shot today. I was in this one field and not much was going on. I found 1 1904 pfenning and was just about to leave when I found this.
This is what I have found on the Internet about this medal: This cross, made of the bronze of captured Austrian cannon, was founded 20 September 1866 by King Wilhelm I of Prussia. The “Main-Armee” version was given to troops who were part of the Army of the Main in southern/central Germany. Including all 3 types of combatant crosses, 144,000 official pieces were awarded by 4 March 1867. The die was cut by Kullrich and Weigand.

    My best medal so far.

      Hi Richard,

very nice piece! Congratulations! I never managed to find medal so far (in one year of detecting) - neither a WWII nor an older one liked yours (which I would prefer to find).

      Best regards,
