Good detectors for German soil (English)

Hello,
I'm living in Germany now and want to purchase a new detector. I'm looking at the Fisher ID-Excel. Also like their 3D. Is there a detector that is more suited to Germany? Is the soil here highly mineralized?
I would really like to search some of the older Roman sites for coins.
Also, plan on spending time in fields...

welcome to Franconia the better part of Bavaria.

Unfortunately I can't tell you something about the Fisher Detectors you are interested in. But considering the ludicrously high prices of Metalldetecors here in Germany, you should seriously consider ordering one in the USA. Depending on the type and maker of the MD, you could easily save up to 50% compared to Prices in Germany or Europe for that matter.

You shouldn't experience to much trouble with soil mineralization. I live in Schwabach about 20 klicks south of nuremberg, we have mostly sandy soils, with some loamy clay patches in between. There are some patches with a moderate iron oxide mineralization, but nothing which a good detector couldn't handle.

Thanks for the comments. I was planning on going through America, as long as they don't restrict it's import here like some legal supplements! (ehehe tried to order some MSM and Glucosamine Sulfate... unsuccessfully).
If you are looking to teach a fellow MD a few things it would be nice as I'm in Allersberg (I think about 20 mins from you). No rush though, but will probably order a meter relatively soon. Not working much as a Native English speaker/ tutor, so would like something fun with my current free time.
What do you know about searching for those older Roman coins?
Anything in our area that I should look into regarding sites?

you should have no problems importing a MD from the USA. You have to pay 16% VAT at the costs of the MD plus the shipping costs and on top of this sum you have to pay 3,5% duty. If you can manage to keep the invoice somehow below 100 USD and declare it as a gift you don't have to pay the VAT and the duty. Anyway it's not a big deal and no paper work or any red tape involved. Usually you have to get the parcle at the customs administration in nuremberg.

Unfortunatley I'm not a pro at TH'ing either.

About the romans, very unfortunately you chose the part of Germania major which was at no time occupied by the romans. Simply because at that time, there were very little population living there, there was just dense forrest.

The roman limes runs along Weißenburg which is just a couple of klicks away from Allersberg.

But the big deal is you need a permission of the "Bayerisches Landesdenkmalamt" (Bavarian Administration of historic sites) to search the roman cities, setttlements, roman streets and ways or any other historic sites. Forget about getting such a license, welcome to german bureaucratism. There is a law called "Denkmalschutzgesetz" (law for the protection of historic sites) and because of this law everyone who want to do some sort of search, digging or changing a historic site in any conceivable way needs a permission. Those permissions are hard to come by. For Detectorist almost impossible. Don't even Think about searching at such sites without a permission, the fines are pretty hefty and your detector is seized. It's a misdemeanor, so they will not throw you in the slammer.
Lot's of people will call the police, if they see a THer, they are not sure why they call it, but they will do it anyway, just to feel important. Police in Germany will follow the call, come hail or high water.

But you are allowed to do TH'ing outside of historic sites and outside of what's called "Naturschutzgebiet" nature preservations. Don't get caught in such a preservation either. Same thing, hefty fine and you can kiss your detector good bye.

With permission of the owner you can search at fields and meadows and in the woods. In Germany the woods are open to the public domain for hiking and TH'ing is allowed as long as it is no historic site or nature preservation and as long as you do not disturb nature espescially wildlife. Normally no one minds as long as you use earphones and fill in your holes.

To get some ideas about the region and find some sites worth to do some detection I suggest you buy yourself a map from the "Bayerischen Landesvermessungsamt" the map number for the Allersberg map (resolution is 1:25.000) is 6733. You can get or at least order this map in any bookstore, cost are about 5,50 Euro. Also a map about the Landkreis Roth would be dremendously helpfull, mine is from the Städte-Verlag and cost were about 4,-- Euro.

With this maps you can easily identify places of intererst, like springs or old fortifications, ring walls (I don't know if this is the correct english term for it) little rivers. Just have a look at the wooden areas of the map and try to think as a guy from the middleages. Thats what I do, well at least I try.

Make visits to the local museums, ask for the Heimatpfleger and contact the Geschichts- und Heimatverein (local history club). Visit the local library and ask for books about the local and regional history (Heimatgeschichte, Regionalgeschichte). That's how I research for places of interest.

Es gibt ein probates Mittel dagegen: lernen! Es ist grundsätzlich nie zu spät...leider ist man meist zu faul dazu. Ich könnt' auch ne kleine Auffrischung vertragen...

@dani .... danke für den link. hab bisher nie nen übersetzer gebraucht, aber bei dem, was da rauskommt, da brauche ich einen. das ist ja noch schlimmer als ne übersetzung einer altgriechischen bibel ins polnische und dann ins bayrische (wobei das schon schlim genug ist) selten soooooo gelacht

Onlinetranslater kannst du nmeistens vergessen als ich bei Trizna unterwechs war habe ich es versucht und da kommt nur Kauderwelsch raus ,da der Sinn halt von einer Maschine nicht übersetzt werden kann .
Ich habe dann mein Russisch wieder aufgebessert und zum Schluß konnte ich sogar wieder einiges lesen
Tja Englisch is sone Sache für meinen Einkauf in Spanien oder bei Minton Hollins in England reicht das immer aber einen Text übersetzen mein lieber Jörg das ist nicht so leicht wenn ich nicht weis worüber die Jungs überhaupt sprechen der hätt auch schreiben können hier in Deutschland is scheiß Wetter ,wer weis
